markdownSunon MF40200V1-1000U-G99
A 40 x 40 x 20 mm, 5 V axial fan with a third-wire tachometer output. Nominal speed is 7000 RPM +/-15%; rated input is 0.75 W. The yellow feedback wire provides two pulses per revolution through an open-collector output.
Asset status: reusable engineering draft. The mounting envelope and lead functions follow the manufacturer drawing. The independently authored rotor and supports are illustrative; this is not yet a fully qualified exact digital twin. Native KiCad 10.0.5 parsed the connector footprint and exported both connector symbols; physical fit remains unverified.
States
The off state is static. The animated GLB separates Fan.Housing from Fan.Rotor, with a named Fan.Rotor.Revolution animation and a speed variable in RPM. Open the interactive motion preview. It starts off, labels all values SIMULATED, and offers clearly labeled slow-motion or real-time playback. State images are static thumbnails, not evidence of actual rotation.
Read the motion contract, fan-specific skill, and runtime verification. The additive motion extension is proposed; existing installed states widgets and probing consumers may show only static fallbacks until their owners release support.
Quiet hero state demonstration
The 3D hero shows the added Adom harness, not a factory-terminated fan. Its single Fan.Hero.GentleStateCycle animation holds still for 4 seconds, ramps up over 4 seconds, runs for 4 seconds, ramps down over 4 seconds and rests for 4 seconds before repeating. Only Fan.Rotor moves; the frame, wires and connector stay fixed. The seam is stopped with no orientation jump. Open the labeled demonstration.
Visible speed peaks at 15 RPM to represent nominal 7000 RPM. This is an illustrative slow-motion presentation, never measured telemetry or evidence of cooling. ?animate=0 holds the first, stopped frame. The operational Fan.Rotor.Revolution asset remains separate so its runtime RPM controller cannot fight hero autoplay. states.json.heroPresentation documents names, timing and scaling as an authored metadata extension; the hero works through baked standard glTF animation.
Electrical interface
| Library lead | Wire | Function |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Red | +5 V fan supply |
| 2 | Black | Supply/FG ground |
| 3 | Yellow | Open-collector frequency output |
These numbers are library conventions. The factory fan has flying leads. The added Adom termination below uses the same 1/2/3 convention; it is not supplied by Sunon. FG pull-up supply must not exceed 6 V; sink current must not exceed 5 mA. A 3.3 V, 10 kΩ pull-up is an application example. Measure one edge polarity and use RPM = 30,000,000 / period in microseconds. Do not treat an on command or nominal speed as measured RPM.
Connector and harness assets
The manufacturer drawing specifies three UL1007, 26 AWG leads, 305 +/- 10 mm long, with 5 +/- 0.3 mm stripped ends. No connector is factory supplied. The hero adds an explicitly defined Adom harness:
| Item | Quantity | Asset / purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Harwin M20-1060300 | 1 | Cable housing symbol, preview, nominal STEP |
| Harwin M20-1180046 | 3 | Tin crimp contacts for 22-30 AWG; simplified contacts included in harness model |
| Harwin M20-9990346 | 1 on PCB | Mating header symbol, preview, PCB footprint, nominal STEP |
Housing circuit 1 (molded triangle) = red +5 V; 2 = black GND; 3 = yellow FG. These are Adom assembly assignments, not factory connector pin numbers. The header is unpolarized. Verify the triangle, board pin-1 mark and end-to-end continuity; do not infer numbering from a mirrored mating-face view. Provide application strain relief.
The crimp-contact drawing specifies 3-4 mm strip length and 0.9-1.6 mm insulation diameter. Prepare the factory 5 mm stripped ends accordingly; the model assumes a 3.5 mm prepared strip. Its 1.2 mm wire outside diameter is illustrative and must be checked on the actual fan. Use the specified tooling/process and qualify the crimp; no pull-test or physical fit has been performed. Connector purchase prices are not yet verified.
The cable housing has no PCB footprint. The separate mating header has 2.54 mm pitch, a 1.02 mm nominal hole per Harwin's 1.02 +/- 0.05 mm recommendation, and a draft 1.7 mm pad. PCB hole plating/tolerances and annular-ring acceptance must be checked with the selected fabrication process. Its model origin is pad 1 on the board surface. The fan mounting template below is mechanical only and must never substitute for that electrical header footprint.
- Factory variant: complete STEP, static GLB.
- Added Adom harness: complete STEP, static GLB, animated hero.
- Connection provenance, assembly mapping, geometry generator, hero animation generator.
Primary references: housing, crimp contact, mating header, and header drawing. Connector details are independently authored nominal models, not manufacturer CAD. The mechanical-only fan has no copper pads, so the standard electrical hero-overlay generator rejects it; owner issue tracks support. This hero does not claim electrical-overlay qualification.
Mechanical and CAD
Nominal frame 40 x 40 mm (+/-0.5), depth 20 mm (+0.5/-0), mounting pitch 32 mm (+/-0.3), four Ø4.3 mm holes (+/-0.3), lead length 305 mm (+/-10), stripped ends 5 mm (+/-0.3). Source: Sunon D04114960G-01, page 6.
- Electrical symbol and symbol preview: off-board fan with supply, ground and FG.
- Mechanical mounting footprint: nominal four-hole template, no electrical pads. Fastener fit and carrier clearance still require design review.
- Static STEP, static GLB, animated GLB, 3D thumbnail.
- Reproducible geometry generator, animation generator, asset provenance.
The manufacturer-linked STEP is a simplified envelope with blank inlet faces, no rotor and no leads. It was retained privately as reference; the redistributable assets here are independently authored from dimensions. Blade profile, motor hub, support geometry, colors and animation direction are illustrative. Cable routing is now illustrated at nominal lead length; the installed route and strain relief remain application-specific. STEP remains a static mechanical artifact; continuous state motion is represented in GLB.
Sources and purchasing
Sunon product page / manufacturer drawing through Mouser / manufacturer CAD ZIP.
Mouser number 369-MF40200V1100UG99: $8.45 at quantity 1, 11 in stock when checked 2026-10-08. Listing only, not a quote or order; shipping and taxes excluded. Search the exact MPN on Mouser for current availability. Other distributor identifiers are not verified.
Adom-authored code and library geometry: MIT. Manufacturer documents and reference CAD retain their own terms. Corrections should include the disputed asset/hash, dimension or lead function, source evidence and a screenshot in this page's issue tracker.
Verification: native EDA checks and published hero-cycle evidence.
Library setup: copy cad/harness into the consuming project's cad/harness directory and register it as the KiCad footprint-library nickname AdomFan. The header symbol binds to that nickname and its model uses ${KIPRJMOD}/cad/harness/M20-9990346-ai-nominal.step. The cable-housing symbol is explicitly excluded from PCB placement (on_board no) while remaining in the BOM. Both connector symbols use a 2.54 mm connection grid.
