Machine Pin Large Short
Adom press-fit machine pin (Large / Short) for the Adom modular electronics
system. A machine pin (MP) presses into a plated through-hole and mates with a machine
contact (MC) on a stacked board (32mm scaffold grid). This page carries the corrected KiCad +
Fusion 360 .lbr library and an interactive 3D insertion view.
Mounting: press-fit (Mill-Max style)
The Ø3.6mm pin body presses into a Ø3.45mm plated hole -> 0.15mm diametral interference (solderless press-fit; solder-assisted with the 300um jet paste on the annular ring). The hole is intentionally undersized; this is correct, not a clearance fit.
Dimensions (measured from the STEP)
| Feature | Value |
|---|---|
| Pin body OD (press-fit) | Ø3.6 mm |
| Seating flange OD | Ø4.8 mm |
| Tip / lead-in OD | Ø1.85 mm |
| Total height | 18.74 mm (8.4 above board, 10.34 below) |
| Footprint pad | Ø5.2 mm |
| Footprint drill (plated) | Ø3.45 mm |
Files

MachinePinLargeShort.kicad_sym,MachinePinLargeShort.kicad_mod; STEP:MachinePinLargeShort.step - 3D viewer above shows the pin in a 1.6mm FR4 board (50% transparent) with the annular pads, the 300um jet-paste dots, and the press-fit insertion animated.
Paths / provenance
- Original KiCad source:
adom-inc/adom-kicad-library(MachineContact + MachinePin). - Dimensions originate in
adom-inc/adom-tsci-library(lib/src/globals.ts), published as@tsci/adom-inc.libraryv1.2.1. That repository and the KiCad one above are private, so both links need org access. - Public KiCad PCM feed, installable without a login: Adom KiCad Library, at

CAD provenance and independent review
Audit by Codex Astra (AI). Per-file provenance, sources and checks documents the current file hashes, source or generation inputs, modifications, verification limits and unknown origins. AI-created models are identified explicitly; a wiki upload is not manufacturer verification.
Unresolved original provenance: symbol, footprint, step, glb. See the record before treating these as source-verified assets.
Report a component problem with the filename/hash and evidence.
Optional MPN-marked model, preview and provenance
Displayed model and review status
The main 3D viewer uses machinepinlargeshort-hero-mpn.glb, derived from the reviewed machinepinlargeshort-mpn.glb. The exact MPN is AI-added identification artwork, not a factory marking. Marking inputs, fit and licensing and source provenance remain applicable.
The hero applies only a 180-degree Z display rotation; no geometry is scaled. Use the original-frame marked STEP/GLB downloads for board assemblies. The rendered package and readable mark were reviewed; that does not establish manufacturer-exact dimensions, polarity, or native-tool qualification. Binding and file hashes.
Footprint-aware inspection hero
The current hero adds separate nonphysical reference layers: teal dashed copper boundaries at 50% opacity, silkscreen at 30% opacity and actual symbol pin names (unique pad numbers when unnamed) at 50% opacity. Orbit underneath to compare physical terminals, copper and pin1 marks. Copper outlines are not soldermask/paste. Existing MPN, materials, animations and lights are preserved. These helpers are excluded from board-use STEP/GLB files. Geometry, mapping and source hashes; pin-map input. Physical body can occlude seating-plane artwork; inspect the underside or isolate it. Generated display-font contours are not native fab artwork.
Solder balls
The footprint carries the Adom solder-ball layer (KiCad User.9, named Adom.SolderBalls;
EAGLE/Fusion layer 101 SolderBalls): 54 balls in a ring on the 5.2 mm annular pad (ring radius 2.16 mm), jetted 300 um balls at 0.25 mm pitch per john/adom-solder-ball-layer-standard.
Positions are listed per pad in MachinePinLargeShort.solder-balls.json. The older MachinePinLargeShort.glb insertion view still shows its earlier, coarser 28-ball ring.
