IXYS IXTP15N50L2
The IXTP15N50L2 is a silicon N-channel LinearL2 MOSFET in a TO-220AB package, designed for linear operation in programmable loads, current regulators and related circuits. The exposed mounting tab is electrically connected to Drain.
| Pin | Function |
|---|---|
| 1 | Gate |
| 2 | Drain, including metal tab |
| 3 | Source |
The manufacturer lists a 500 V drain-source rating, 15 A continuous drain current at a 25 °C case, and 0.42 °C/W maximum junction-to-case thermal resistance. These are device ratings under specified conditions, not a simultaneous operating envelope or an electronic-load power rating. Use the full safe-operating-area curves, case temperature and thermal design for the intended operating point. The 300 W datasheet dissipation rating assumes a case held at 25 °C.

Library and model status
Provisional, not fabrication-qualified. The symbol maps Gate/Drain/Source to pins 1/2/3. The footprint is an original straight-lead candidate at 2.54 mm pitch with 1.4 mm nominal finished holes and 2.2 mm copper pads. Confirm the fabrication tolerance and assembly clearance; a 1.3 mm minimum finished hole is a proposed engineering constraint, not a manufacturer recommendation. The maximum rectangular lead section in the drawing is 1.02 × 0.56 mm, approximately 1.164 mm diagonally.
The 3D assets are an independently generated nominal envelope based on the exact package drawing. They are not manufacturer CAD. Mold taper, small edge radii and shoulder transitions are simplified. Straight, untrimmed leads are represented; the board-use pose assumes a 6.5 mm body standoff. Different mounting orientations require their own lead-forming and model-binding review. Neither the model nor this footprint defines a qualified heatsink clamp or insulator.
The clean model is separate from the hero's nonphysical reference artwork. Source dimensions, assumptions and generation method are in provenance.json, dimensions.json and build_model.py. Factory markings and internal die geometry are not reconstructed. The marked model adds a virtual upright part-number reference; it does not reproduce factory printing. The initial generic marking pose was rejected after visual review.

Related application: Adom custom electronic load. Its horizontal mounting, cooling and board qualification are separate from this reusable catalog record.
The canonical hub currently carries the symbol, land pattern and pin mapping; its importer does not preserve the STEP attachment. Use the native KiCad footprint binding or the explicit page model assets. The GLB already includes its 6.5 mm standoff; do not apply that translation a second time.
The 6.5 mm straight-lead standoff clears the drawing’s maximum 5.84 mm shoulder length by 0.66 mm nominally. The wider shoulder can be 1.65 mm across and must not enter the 1.4 mm hole. The earlier 3 mm pose has been superseded; a horizontal bend requires a separate shoulder and bend-radius study.
