Blue SMD LED 0603 - Inolux IN-S63BT5B
Inolux Corporation IN-S63BT5B: 0603 SMD Blue LED, 2.8 V drop @ 5 mA test, 25 mA max. An Adom Basic Part: Adom keeps it on reels for its pick-and-place line, so boards built with it draw on Adom stock.
Key specs
| Spec | Datasheet |
|---|---|
| 0603 top-view SMD LED in a clear-lens, PCB-type moulded package, 1.6 × 0.8 × 0.6 mm | p.1, p.9 |
| InGaN blue emitter, dominant wavelength 468 nm, peak 470 nm, spectral width Δλ 30 nm | p.3, p.8 |
| The '5' in the part number is Inolux's test-current code, this variant is specified and tested at 5 mA, not the series' default 20 mA ((Blank) = 20 mA, 5 = 5 mA) | p.9, p.3 |
| Forward voltage 2.8 V typ at the 5 mA test current | p.3 |
| Luminous intensity 45 mcd typ at 5 mA | p.3, p.8 |
| 120° viewing angle (2θ1/2) | p.3 |
| 25 mA max continuous forward current; 100 mA peak at 1/10 duty, 0.1 ms pulse; 5 V max reverse voltage; 75 mW max dissipation | p.2 |
| Operating −30 to +85 °C, storage −40 to +90 °C | p.2 |
| Moisture sensitive and ESD sensitive (InGaN), ships dry-packed in a sealed moisture-barrier anti-static bag | p.2, p.12 |
| Supplied on tape and reel, 4000 pcs per reel (EIA-481-1A conductive black carrier tape) | p.10, p.11 |
Notes for designers
IN-S63BT5B is the blue member of Inolux's IN-S63BT series, a low-profile 0603 top-view indicator LED in a clear, PCB-type moulded package. (p.1) The '5' in the part number is not a suffix quirk, it is the Current field of Inolux's numbering scheme, and it means this variant is specified and tested at 5 mA rather than the series' usual 20 mA. (p.9) The die is InGaN at a dominant wavelength of 468 nm. (p.3, p.8)
At the 5 mA test point it drops 2.8 V typ and returns 45 mcd (p.3), plenty for an indicator at a quarter of the usual current. Do not read that 2.8 V as a 20 mA figure: every guaranteed number in the electrical table for this part is a 5 mA number. (p.3) From a 5 V rail, (5 − 2.8) / 0.005 = 440 Ω lands it on its test point; the datasheet asks for a current-limiting resistor explicitly. (p.13)
The absolute maximums still allow 25 mA continuous and 100 mA pulsed (1/10 duty, 0.1 ms), (p.2) but above 5 mA you are off the characterized map. Reverse voltage is rated to only 5 V, (p.2) the viewing angle is a wide 120°, (p.3) and InGaN chips are static-sensitive devices, ESD precautions apply. (p.2)
Footprint
Redrawn from the datasheet land pattern (the previous pads were off by up to 0.5 mm).
Source: Land pattern from Inolux IN-S63BT series datasheet V1.2, p.1 (Recommended Solder Pattern).
| mm | Datasheet | KiCad standard (LED_0603_1608Metric) | Previous | This page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pad length (along the part) | 0.6 | 0.875 | 0.9 | 0.6 |
| Pad width | 0.9 | 0.95 | 1 | 0.9 |
| Gap between pads | 0.8 | 0.7 | 0.7 | 0.8 |
| Centre to centre | 1.4 | 1.575 | 1.6 | 1.4 |
| Overall | 2 | 2.45 | 2.5 | 2 |
| Corner radius | not specified | 0.2188 (ratio 0.25) | 0.225 (ratio 0.25) | square (as drawn) |
| Corners: square, as the datasheet draws them. The datasheet does not call for rounded corners, so the footprint does not add any. |
Polarity: pad 1 = K (cathode, -X), pad 2 = A, matching the symbol (K = pin 1, A = pin 2) and the datasheet's cathode mark; the silkscreen bracket marks the cathode end.
Chip outline
The part's 3D outline in the standard pose (pad 1 toward the viewer), drawn from the STEP by Adom's OpenCascade service; the part number sits where the laser-etched mark is on the 3D model and reads the same way.
Symbol options
The default symbol, IN-S63BT5B.kicad_sym (the one in the Symbol & Footprint panel), is the plain standard symbol. IN-S63BT5B-outline.kicad_sym is the same symbol with the part's 3D chip outline drawn beside it, its part number placed and reading as on the 3D model.
