[workspace] A Hydrogen start never runs a global WSL shutdown again: a WSL error is retried and observed for the first minute after boot and for five minutes after an update relaunch, the only automatic remedy after that is restarting Hydrogen's own distro, and a relaunch whose editor already answers makes no WSL calls at launch. The update banner now says whether a release is front-end only.

A dock app relaunches after a wake even when its launch steps were still reloading; the dark cover on a webview names the AI thread from its recipe.

After a wake, stopped widgets and dock apps relaunch, a webview can run the restart command its AI thread left, and a page whose server is gone shows a dark cover naming the thread to ask instead of a white error page. Each repair has a switch in Settings > Recovery.

A Hydrogen Widget can ask for a bigger live view in its hover card; the same widget moves into the card and back without reloading (Adom AI Flow uses it for large pictures).

The project workspace offer card no longer appears at every start; only a newly cloned project gets its one card.

A starting widget's placeholder takes 150 px instead of the manifest width; the widget skill tells third parties how to get listed for everyone.

Hydrogen Widgets relaunch themselves when their program is updated on disk; the widget hover card waits 1200 ms before showing.

Clicks reach Hydrogen Widgets now (the strip is no-drag): the Claude and Codex usage widgets cycle their views on click.

Bench placeholder tabs: plain reason (app printed no address, or adom-cli misread its port), Adom Bridge mentioned only for bridge apps, and the tab fills itself in from the app's launch log within a minute of apply.

Project workspaces menu: each wiki repo is a collapsible parent row with its workspace count and a wiki link, and its workspaces are indented children under a guide line; collapsed repos are remembered.

Project workspaces: POST /workspaces/apply and /unload accept a wiki identity (owner/slug#hydrogen/...json) that is not yet in the bench list; adom-cli resolves the file.

Project workspaces: Apply now builds the bench from scratch by default (the VS Code pane is kept, the tabs it closes come back on Unload), matching Hydrogen Cloud; the checkbox is now Keep my other tabs open, off by default; the API takes merge:true for the old behaviour.

Every screenshot taken through the control API logs which AI thread asked for it and whether it asked for the flash to be suppressed, so a capture the user saw or did not see is attributable from the log.

Hydrogen Widgets: a widget process runs in its own session, so an editor reload or an extension host restart no longer kills it (both slots read no data on the laptop after a pane reload).

Editor: the launch-time sweep unlocks the surviving editor group, so a group VS Code left locked after its terminal tab closed no longer refuses new Claude or Codex threads.

Adom Bridge supervisor: a slow bridge is left alone, only a missing bridge process is respawned (no more respawn loop during the setup cascade); open Hydrogen Widgets restore once the sign-in lands (after a virgin reset too).

Hydrogen Widgets: slots now apply the width each widget asks for (they stayed at the manifest guess); the stacked layout is a third as wide; a widget without a mark reserves no mark space.

Widgets: the Claude and Codex usage widgets show their vendor marks; the Widgets pulldown sits left of the CPU/RAM meter and links to the Widgets page and SDK; the loading placeholder and the slots size to the Title Bar, full or compact. The bar across the top of the window is now called the Title Bar everywhere (its chevron says Compact the Title Bar).

Menus fit short windows and scroll when needed; the Widgets button is a puzzle piece so it no longer looks like the Project workspaces grid.

Widgets: a widget that announces itself now gets the same proxy-form address Hydrogen uses, so its slot URL reads consistently (hydrogen-widget).

hydrogen-widget (adom/hydrogen#17): a Widgets pulldown in the title bar with small live panels served from your workspace: Claude usage (5-hour, weekly, model bucket), Codex usage, and a clock to copy. A wiki repo adds one with a hydrogen-widget.json facet; open widgets are remembered per user; everything is on the control API (/widgets/*). Also: the WebView2 browser processes now run above normal priority like the app itself (adom/hydrogen#75).

First cold editor load on small machines (adom/hydrogen#75): Hydrogen and the browser processes it spawns now run at above-normal scheduling priority, so the interactive window keeps responding while the workspace boots the editor's extension host. Root cause from the hang dumps: the main thread was blocked inside WebView2 waiting on its own browser process, which a saturated 4-core VM had starved.

Report a problem (adom/hydrogen#4): when setup stops, the card offers Report this problem; it signs you in first if needed (or lets you create an Adom account), then files an issue on the Hydrogen wiki page as you with the log tail and the Doctor's checks attached, and shows the link. The same lives in the Adom menu as Report a problem, and on the control API as POST /report/problem.

Reset to default layout now rebuilds the stock panes (adom/hydrogen#49): after clearing the saved layout the editor reloads and builds its default, instead of sitting empty.

Your workspace layout survives a restart (adom/hydrogen#49): the webview tabs, panel splits, sidebar state and pane widths are saved as you change them and restored when Hydrogen reopens, remembered per Adom user so a different login gets its own. Built on the Project workspaces save/apply path, stored locally (not in the cloud). A new Reset to default layout entry in the Project workspaces menu rebuilds the stock panes if you want a clean slate.

The workspace meter no longer spawns wsl.exe: CPU, RAM and the kernel out-of-memory count are read over HTTP from the workspace, so a busy box can never be misread as a wedged one (adom/hydrogen#76, #52). A management-plane hiccup no longer pops a 'restart Windows' toast; the VS Code pane shows a Reconnect banner if the editor backend stops answering, and the banner now says what was measured rather than guessing at sleep. When Linux frees memory by ending a process, an info toast names it. code-server and the relay are protected from the out-of-memory killer so a runaway process dies first; interactive terminals stay killable. The meter ticks every 2 s and pauses while the window is hidden.

Project workspaces: the Save toast no longer reports the launch console tab the export dropped; CLI hints show their message, not raw JSON.

Project workspaces: Save keeps web view tabs (the panel catalog no longer maps wiki onto the Web View id, which made adom-cli drop every webview tab on export), and unloading a bench that created nothing reads as done.

Approvals: a waiting request keeps its decision buttons in the notification bell no matter what this window did (restart, reload, away); the click goes to Adom Bridge, which decides whether it lands, was settled elsewhere first, or could not be delivered. Nothing is marked closed because the window went away any more; only Adom Bridge closes a row, naming the box and the time.

Notification bell: every decided or closed approval row now says when it was decided (clock time, full timestamp on hover), and a card that closed without a decision reaching this window says answer unknown instead of implying an outcome.

Project workspaces: the hydrogen-project-workspaces skill ships with the desktop (installed into the workspace at setup), the wiki sub-readme with a video is linked from the page, and the Apply toast names started apps by reference.

Shared workspaces: Unload finds the apply record under the identity, the relative path or the absolute path adom-cli used, reads the CLI error envelope on stderr, and a name given to the API resolves to the applied or checkout bench before a mirror copy.

The resource tooltip is a table now: App, Workspace, GPU and a Total row, with RAM, share of RAM and CPU in aligned columns that never shift as the numbers update.

The resource tooltip keeps updating live but no longer re-wraps: every changing number has room reserved for its widest value.

The resource tooltip holds still while you read it: values freeze on hover and resume when you leave, so the text no longer re-wraps every second.

The GPU reading now names the actual card, so a laptop with an integrated and a discrete GPU can tell which one the number belongs to.

A recording indicator appears in the header while a capture is running and clicking it stops and saves. The resource tooltip is legible now, and the GPU reading names which card it is, which matters on a laptop with two.

The meter now counts the workspace the way Windows does, so it matches vmmemWSL in Task Manager instead of reading nearly two gigabytes low. The tooltip explains the difference between what Windows commits to the workspace and what Linux reports using inside it.

The resource meter tooltip now uses one denominator and shows the bar’s arithmetic, so the app and workspace figures visibly add up to the percentage on the bar.

Panes that come back from sleep on an error page are actually detected now: the check only ever looked at the window shell, never at the panes themselves. And a pane whose server has stopped says which port is dead instead of showing a blank grey page.

The pane memory warning no longer fires on size alone, which made it constant on a busy machine. It now needs a heap near its ceiling, or a large pane while the window is actually stalling, and it has its own switch under Notifications.

Settings Check now brings the update banner back instead of claiming it is already showing. If you had hidden the banner, pressing Check now reveals it again and the message says so.

The workspace-update card now gets out of the way once you press Update now, instead of sitting on top of the restart that is already running and saying Starting update. It stays down across a reload and comes back only if the run dies.

Hydrogen now names any editor extension your workspace is missing, which is what an absent Codex or Adom sidebar icon actually means, with the command to install it. It installs nothing on its own.

Carries the one-click update fix: the top-bar button re-resolves the latest at the moment you click it, so you stop stepping through updates one version at a time.

A frozen window recovers again: the hang dump now runs in a child process instead of deadlocking the app, and the three-minute self-restart is decided before it. New pane memory watchdog warns which pane is heavy before it can freeze the window, with GET /panes/memory for agents.

Per-box identity badge (colour, device glyph, monogram from Adom Bridge 2.1.93) on mirrored permission cards, bell rows and toasts, so a mesh prompt is recognisable at a glance.

Codex repair: a deferred upgrade where the newer extension is attached to the older backend (adom/codex PR 6) is reported only; interrupt-and-swap runs solely when the extension failed to attach.

AI Threads (beta) is now fully opt-in, and stays off until you turn it on:

• Opening the AI Threads panel shows what it is and an Activate button. Nothing runs, no editor scans, no background loops, until you press it.
• Reading the /ai-threads API while it is off costs nothing and cannot switch it on. Driving calls (sample prompts, the lightbulb, the dock's open-thread-on-launch) are served one-shot without waking the background machinery.
• The 12-second sweep loop that ran from boot on every machine, whether or not the panel was ever opened, now parks until Activate. This is the loop that ran for hours on a frozen test machine.
• If a census cannot reconcile the tree it backs off instead of retrying every sweep.

Also in this release: the "workspace stopped responding" banner fix for newer WebView2 runtimes (Local Network Access), Escape closing every dialog, and self-recovery from a provably deadlocked UI thread, all carried forward from 1.0.160.

Fixes from extended install-and-drive testing on virgin machines:

• Every dialog closes on Escape (key-values, Doctor, container lifecycle). A missing handler could leave an invisible full-page backdrop swallowing clicks.

• A provably deadlocked UI thread now self-recovers: after 3 minutes of continuous main-thread freeze the app writes a diagnostic dump and restarts itself, once.
• The installer passes /NODESKTOP to the bundled Adom Bridge (no stray desktop shortcut).
• Setup's final act re-applies the clean editor layout, so the first view after install is always uncluttered.

Reliability release for AI-driven prompt delivery: every CDP typing helper now serializes through the AI Threads gate, so concurrent AI callers queue safely instead of destabilizing the editor (apps should require 1.0.142 or newer before driving prompts). Also: an AI Threads tab in the API Explorer, one clean drop-zone indicator when dragging tabs with Escape canceling the drag, an optional lightbulb menu (hidden by default), and POST /hbw/close.

Fullscreen from a maximized window now works on both edges: entering no longer leaves a dead strip where the taskbar was, and Esc properly restores the maximized window. The webview URL bar only highlights while you are editing the address, not whenever the pane is focused. The AI Threads card in Add Panel is labeled BETA. • Setup never leaves you stuck. If you step away during a sign-in and the link expires, just sign in again (even hours later) — HD now auto-resumes the setup cascade on its own the moment both sign-ins are satisfied, and runs to completion. No commands, no reinstall, no getting stranded.
• The Adom sign-in is fully autonomous (HD surfaces the consent window and authorizes it for you). The Claude sign-in is the one human moment, saved for last; HD highlights Authorize and continues automatically once you approve.

The auto-resume is idle-gated and one-shot, so it never fights a live run or loops.
