WS2812B

An addressable RGB LED with the controller built into the 5050 package, the WS2812B is the chip behind NeoPixel strips. Red, green, and blue dies plus a control IC sit under one lens, driven by a single data line: the host sends 24 bits of color (8 each for G, R, B) to the first LED on DIN, and each LED latches its own color then forwards the rest of the stream out DOUT to the next one. So a whole strip of hundreds runs from one microcontroller pin. It runs on 5 V and needs only a decoupling capacitor. Four pins: VDD, DOUT, VSS, DIN.

4 DIN input Serial control-data input using a single-wire NZR protocol at 800 Kbps (bit period TH+TL = 1.25 us +/- 600 ns). VIH >= 0.7*VDD, VIL <= 0.3*VDD, hysteresis ~0.35 V. A low period >= 50 us is interpreted as the RES/latch (reset) code.
