LM4875MX

Texas Instruments · Audio Power OpAmps · SOIC-8

LM4875MX from Texas Instruments, in a SOIC-8. Pinout and pin descriptions extracted from the manufacturer datasheet by ds2sf; symbol, footprint, and 3D from KiCad-official CAD.

Pinout

Pin Name Type Function
1 VO1 output Amp1 (non-inverting bridge half) audio output. Drives one side of the bridged 8 Ω speaker and, in headphone mode, drives the single-ended headphone load referenced to GND. Biased at VDD/2 in bridge mode.
2 BYPASS passive Half-supply (VDD/2) bias-node bypass pin. A capacitor CB (typically 1.0 µF) from this pin to GND filters the internal bias reference and sets the click/pop turn-on time (~280 ms with 1.0 µF). Larger CB improves PSRR.
3 HP-Sense input Headphone-sense control input. VIL ≤ 0.8 V places the amplifier in bridged speaker mode; VIH ≥ 4 V (up to VCC) mutes Amp2, disconnects the bridge load, and enables single-ended headphone drive from VO1. Typically driven by a headphone-jack switch contact through a resistor divider.
4 DC Vol/SD input DC voltage volume control and shutdown pin. Input range GND to VDD sets gain from about −72 dB (VPIN4 ≤ 0.9 V, 20% VDD) up to +20 dB (VPIN4 ≥ 4.0 V, 80% VDD). Applying <300 mV activates the 0.7 µA micropower shutdown; 500 mV-1 V asserts mute (~75 dB attenuation).
5 -IN input Inverting audio input to Amp1. Drive through an input coupling capacitor Ci (blocks DC and forms a highpass with the internal 10 kΩ-110 kΩ input resistor RIN, which varies with the DC Vol/SD setting). Amp1's closed-loop gain is set by the DC Vol/SD voltage.
6 GND power_in Device ground / analog reference. All voltages in the datasheet are measured with respect to this pin.
7 VDD power_in Positive supply rail. Operating range 2.7 V to 5.5 V (absolute max 6.0 V). Quiescent current 4 mA typ (bridge mode) / 3.5 mA typ (headphone mode). Bypass close to the pin with 10 µF and 0.1 µF capacitors to GND for low noise and high PSRR.
8 VO2 output Amp2 (inverting bridge half) audio output. Drives the second side of the bridge-mode 8 Ω speaker with a signal 180° out of phase with VO1 (fixed −1 gain vs Amp1). Muted (Amp2 off) when HP-Sense is driven high.
