Texas Instruments · Dual H-bridge motor driver · HTSSOP-16 (PowerPAD)

Dual H-bridge motor driver with integrated N-channel MOSFETs, in an HTSSOP-16 PowerPAD package. It drives two DC brush motors, one bipolar stepper, or solenoids, at up to 1.5 A RMS (2 A peak) per bridge from a 2.7-10.8 V supply. Simple IN/IN PWM control, a low-power sleep pin, and built-in overcurrent, thermal, and undervoltage protection. The default small-motor driver for robots and actuators; solder the thermal pad to a copper pour.

8 nFAULT output Open-drain fault output. Pulled low when a fault condition (overtemperature, overcurrent) is detected. Requires an external pullup to logic-supply rail. VOL ≤ 0.5 V at IO = 5 mA.

10 BIN2 input Bridge B input 2. Logic input controls the state of BOUT2 (see H-bridge truth table). Has an internal 150 kΩ pulldown. VIH ≥ 2 V, VIL ≤ 0.7 V.
11 VCP power_out High-side gate drive voltage from the internal charge pump. Connect a 0.01-µF, 16-V (minimum) X7R ceramic capacitor to VM.
12 VM power_in Device motor power supply (2.7 V to 10.8 V operating; 11.8 V abs max). Connect a 10-µF (minimum) ceramic bypass capacitor to GND.
13 GND power_in Device ground. The HTSSOP package has a PowerPAD that must also be tied to this GND for both grounding and thermal dissipation.
14 VINT power_out Internal regulator supply bypass. Bypass to GND with a 2.2-µF, 6.3-V (minimum) ceramic capacitor. Do not load externally.
15 AIN2 input Bridge A input 2. Logic input controls the state of AOUT2 (see H-bridge truth table). Has an internal 150 kΩ pulldown. VIH ≥ 2 V, VIL ≤ 0.7 V.
