📦 Tape & reel / pick-and-place- Packaging: the
-Rsuffix = Tape & Reel (cut-tape available via Mouser/DigiKey custom reel). - Carrier tape: EIA-481 embossed carrier; pocket position referenced to the sprocket holes (4.0 mm feed pitch). Confirm pin-1 orientation against Nordic's tape-and-reel drawing before programming the placement machine — don't assume.
- Pin-1 orientation: per IPC-7351 zero orientation, pin 1 is top-left; the footprint marks it with a square pad + silk dot. (IEC 61188-7 libraries put pin 1 bottom-left — check which a library follows.)
- MSL: Moisture Sensitivity Level 1 (per Nordic) — no bake required under normal floor life; still reflow per J-STD-020.
The footprint ships a paste layer. For this fine-pitch (0.5 mm) aQFN-73, InstaPCB renders the paste as a micro-dot aperture array rather than full pads, to cut the paste volume that causes bridging between the staggered aQFN rows. Default is lead-free (SAC305); a leaded profile is selectable.
- Open the PCB Footprint viewer above and toggle the paste / solder-dot layer to see the default aperture placement.
- If the default micro-dot pattern bridges or starves joints on your build, report it in Discussions with a photo — paste defaults improve from community feedback.
- The exposed/center ground uses a windowpane dot array to control paste coverage and avoid float.
