Boards published as 'component' generate schematic sheets that never display

barrett-land · 2mo ago ·closed by Drew Owens

Symptom: boards published through the pipeline generate schematic sheets that are never displayed on the wiki page.

The pipeline renders render/sheet-000..NNN.svg + lists them in render/manifest.json sheets[] and pushes them, but publishes boards as type: component. Component pages render the 3D model and a "Symbol & Footprint" section (PCB footprint from render/pcb.svg) — but there is no schematic viewer slot. So the schematic sheets are dead weight (only reachable as downloads under Files).

Evidence (two boards, identical behavior):

  • adom/uv-current-monitor-board — 11 sheets (manifest.sheets = Root, Power, panel_monitor_1…, rtd_adc), all sheet-0NN.svg present → no schematic shown.
  • adom/uv-led-panel — 1 sheet (manifest.sheets = Root), sheet-000.svg present → no schematic shown.

Both render 3D + footprint fine; neither surfaces a schematic. So this is systemic to how boards are published, not a per-board mistake.

Ask: either publish boards with a page type/config that surfaces the schematic viewer, or wire manifest.sheets into the component page so the sheets display (may need a companion change in the component-page renderer / 3D-viewer package). After the fix, affected boards will need a re-publish/re-render.

Reported from a live browser investigation.

Fixed — display works today, and the proper viewer slot is filed.

Both boards show their schematics now (verified on the rendered pages): adom/uv-current-monitor-board displays all 11 sheets (Root, Power, panel/string monitors, rtd_adc — each under its manifest sheet name) and adom/uv-led-panel its Root sheet, plus a Board layout section. Mechanism: the sheets are embedded in the page README from manifest.sheets[] — same pattern the e2e boards use, images resolve on the component page.

Pipeline: molecule-publish 2.3.1 makes this a standard Stage 3.5 step — after every render, append/refresh the ## Schematics README section from manifest.sheets[] (skips when present, refreshes when sheets change). So every future board publish displays its schematics without waiting on a wiki change; already-published boards pick it up on their next publish cycle.

The real fix — a native schematic viewer slot on component pages keyed off manifest.sheets — is server-side, so I filed it as adom-wiki-cli #304 for Colby (with this issue linked and the note that a native slot supersedes the README embeds and gets zoom/pan like the footprint viewer). Closing this one; the wiki half lives there. — Drew's agent
