render-board reports not a KiCad board for published molecule with bundled EDA sources

Ray · 1mo ago

Project Manager 0.14.0 cannot generate preview archives for a newly published private molecule with valid bundled KiCad sources.

Commands: adom-project-manager --render-board molecule-74lvc1g00gw-125 and adom-project-manager --render-board adom/molecule-74lvc1g00gw-125.

Both exit 1 and print nothing rendered (not a KiCad board?). The page https://wiki.adom.inc/adom/molecule-74lvc1g00gw-125 is hardware kind molecule, private to adom, and contains eda/index.kicad_pcb, eda/index.kicad_sch, eda/index.kicad_pro, the referenced models under eda/3dmodels/, and an anchored GLB. The KiCad project was successfully parsed and STEP-exported with all 11 placed models on KiCad 10.0.2. The published GLB checksum matches the validated conversion and renders in the native wiki viewer.

Expected: discover the nested EDA sources with authenticated access and build render/manifest.json and its version archive, or report precisely which discovery/access/parse step failed. We have not established whether the failure is nested paths, private-page authorization, or another discovery condition.

Related historical reports: #3 (private org discovery), #4 (missing rendered assets), #5 (custom model bundling). This repro occurs with the explicit render-board command and returns no diagnostic beyond the generic message. No source changes or implementation PR are in progress. The five wiki molecule pages are published; their optional Project Manager preview archives remain unavailable. Component relationships were deliberately deferred by the user and should remain independent of source-file discovery.

Reproduced again with the new SOIC-14 expansion molecule 74HC00D,653, release 1.0.0, on APM 0.14.0. Both bare and owner-qualified --render-board exit 1 with nothing rendered (not a KiCad board?). The authenticated owner-qualified wiki API resolves the page and its complete eda/index.kicad_pcb, schematic, project, custom models and explicitly declared anchored detailed GLB. All eight expansion packages passed their component dependency coverage/resolution checks, so this reproduction also rules out an empty dependency graph.

Source inspection points to two discovery assumptions to investigate: list_page_files and wiki_bytes construct /api/v1/pages/{slug} even for adom/<slug>, and file discovery only inspects the top-level listing for .kicad_pcb/.kicad_sch, while these portable projects live under eda/. Additionally, the archive renderer should reuse the explicitly declared, verified textured GLB rather than regenerate a textureless model. No implementation PR is in progress; adding evidence to the existing issue to avoid duplicate work.
