IN-S42ATUW is the white member of Inolux's IN-S42AT series, and the one variant with a diffused lens — the 'U' in the part number is the lens code.p.8 The die is InGaN,p.7 and being white there is no dominant wavelength: the colour is specified as CIE chromaticity x = 0.295 / y = 0.30p.3 and binned across five regions, R27–R31.p.4
Budget 3.1 V typ (up to 4.0 V max) at the 20 mA test point and it returns 600 mcd — the brightest part in the series.p.3 The VF spread makes it a 5 V-rail part in practice: (5 − 3.1) / 0.02 = 95 Ω for the full 20 mA, and a backlight or indicator will usually run well below that. Use a current-limiting resistor — the datasheet asks for one explicitlyp.12 — and keep continuous current at or below 25 mA.p.2
The diffused lens plus 130° viewing anglep.3 make it a soft, wide-angle source rather than a spot. Reverse voltage is rated to only 5 V,p.2 and InGaN chips are static-sensitive devices — ESD precautions apply in design and assembly.p.2
