7 GND power_in Ground return. Route outside of the Schottky-diode-to-output-capacitor ground loop to keep switching current spikes from injecting noise into the IC. Pins 7 and 8 are internally tied.
8 GND power_in Ground return (paralleled with pin 7). Star-connect at the input capacitor return; keep away from the high-di/dt Schottky/output-cap loop.
