Texas Instruments · Boost switching regulator · SOT-563
Synchronous boost (step-up) converter in a tiny SOT-563 package, built for single-cell battery and supercap rails. It starts from 0.5 V (1.8 V minimum to start) and boosts an adjustable 2.2 to 5.5 V output set by an external FB divider, with a 3.7 A valley switch-current limit. True input-to-output disconnect, 5.7 V output OVP, short-circuit and thermal protection round it out. The default way to make a stable 3.3 V or 5 V rail from a drooping battery.
Pinout
| Pin | Name | Type | Function |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | FB | input | Voltage feedback pin for the adjustable output voltage. External R1/R2 divider from VOUT sets VOUT via the internal reference (V_REF = 595 mV typical in PWM mode). Very low leakage (~4 nA typical at 25 °C). |
| 2 | EN | input | Enable logic input. Logic high enables the device; logic low forces shutdown mode (~0.1 µA). V_EN_H = 1.2 V (max), V_EN_L = 0.35–0.45 V. Absolute max -0.3 V to 7 V. |
| 3 | VIN | power_in | IC power supply input. Recommended operating range 0.5 V to 5.5 V (1.8 V minimum required for start-up). Decouple locally with a ceramic capacitor (1.0 µF min, 4.7 µF typical). |
| 4 | GND | power_in | Ground pin of the IC. Return for input and output capacitors; connect directly to the system ground plane with a low-impedance path. |
| 5 | SW | power_out | Switch node of the boost converter. Connected to the drain of the internal low-side power MOSFET (47 mΩ) and the source of the internal high-side power MOSFET (68 mΩ). External inductor (0.37–2.9 µH; 1.0 µH typical) ties SW to VIN. Absolute max -0.3 V to 7 V (transient spikes to 9 V for 1 ns allowed). |
| 6 | VOUT | power_out | Boost converter output. Adjustable 2.2 V to 5.5 V set by external FB divider. Also supplies internal bias during light-load / super-cap backup operation (I_Q from VOUT ~20 µA typical). 5.7-V OVP; connect output capacitor (4 µF to 1000 µF effective, 10 µF typical). |
