TP4336

TPOWER · Battery Management · ESOP-8L

TP4336 from TPOWER, in a ESOP-8L. Pinout and pin descriptions extracted from the manufacturer datasheet by ds2sf; symbol, footprint, and 3D from KiCad-official CAD.

Pinout

Pin Name Type Function
1 VDD power_in Charger power input. Recommended operating range 4.5-5.5 V (absolute max 6.5 V). Overvoltage protection trips at ~6.15 V and recovers below 5.85 V. Typically fed from a 5 V USB source through a small series resistor with a 2.2 µF decoupling capacitor to GND.
2 LED1 output LED driver output. In 4-LED mode this is the first fuel-gauge LED (charge/discharge state, ~3-4 mA sink). In 2-LED mode this is the CHARGE indicator LED (red, ~3.3 mA). Blinks at 1 Hz while charging and 2 Hz on low-battery warning.
3 LED2 output LED driver output. In 4-LED mode this is the second fuel-gauge LED. In 2-LED mode this is the DISCHARGE indicator LED (blue, ~3.3 mA). Follows the fuel-gauge / low-battery blink patterns described in the LED state tables.
4 LED3 output LED driver output. In 4-LED mode this is the third fuel-gauge LED. In 2-LED mode this pin must be shorted to GND to select the 2-LED configuration.
5 SWT bidirectional Multi-function pushbutton input and flashlight LED driver. A >50 ms single click powers the boost output on and displays the fuel gauge; a double click within 500 ms turns the output off. A 2 s long press toggles the flashlight LED output (up to 60 mA sink at VBAT=4.2 V, disabled below the BAT undervoltage threshold).
6 BAT power_out Li-ion battery positive terminal. Sinks up to 1 A constant-current charge (10% trickle below 2.85 V) with 4.2 V float and 130 mV recharge hysteresis. Also sources current to the boost stage during discharge; UVLO releases boost above 3.1 V and terminates discharge below 2.8 V. Bypass with 10 µF close to the pin plus 10 µF near the inductor.
7 SW power_out Switching node of the synchronous boost converter (internal high-side and low-side power MOSFETs). Connects to an external 1.5 µH power inductor between BAT and SW. Operates at ~1 MHz with up to 90% duty cycle.
8 OUT power_out Synchronous boost output, regulated to 5.0 V at up to 1 A. Includes OVP at 5.25 V, OCP at 4.3 V with 8 ms delay, and short-circuit protection at 2.8 V with 500 µs delay (latched until load is removed or button pressed). Bypass with 2× 10 µF low-ESR ceramics close to the pin.
EP GND power_in Exposed thermal pad, chip ground. Must be soldered to a large PCB ground plane for proper thermal performance and as the return for both the charger and boost stages.

3D model downloads

Two STEP files. Same geometry, different body top:

File Size Use it when
tp4336.step 193 KB You want the bare part, or you mark your own boards.
tp4336-etched.step 1.3 MB You want the part with TP4336 already on it.

The marking in the etched file is real recessed geometry cut into the solid, not a texture or a decal: 326 faces against 63 in the bare model. It survives export, section views, and rendering in any CAD tool, and it drops straight into KiCad or Fusion with no extra setup.
