Dual bipolar op-amp built for DC precision: 10 uV of input offset, 0.1 uV/C of drift, and low noise, on a wide +/-2 to +/-18 V supply. That combination suits it to buffering references, conditioning bridge and thermocouple signals, and building precision integrators where offset and drift dominate the error budget. The high supply range gives large signal headroom on split rails. A classic precision dual, the successor to the OP227, in the standard SOIC-8 pinout.
