The physical-layer half of a CAN node, in a SOIC-8: it converts the logic-level TXD/RXD of a CAN controller into the differential CANH/CANL bus signals and back, at up to 1 Mb/s. Pair it with the MCP2515 stand-alone controller (or an MCU's built-in CAN) to build a complete node. The RS pin selects high-speed, slope-controlled, or standby mode; slope control tames EMI on slower buses. It drives a full 112-node bus and survives bus faults and load dumps. Runs from a single 5 V supply.
