INA253

Texas Instruments · Current-sense amplifier · TSSOP-20

Current-sense amplifier that integrates its own precision 2 mOhm shunt on-chip, so a designer drops in one part instead of matching an external resistor to the amplifier and fighting layout parasitics. The inputs handle a common-mode range from -4 to 80 V for high-side use, it carries up to 15 A continuous, and a REF pin sets the zero-current output for bidirectional current. The matched shunt gives a tight, temperature-stable gain error. A complete, board-friendly current measurement in one package.

Pinout

Pin Name Type Function
IS- passive Load-side terminal of the integrated 2-mΩ shunt resistor. Connect to load. Pins 1, 2, and 3 are internally tied together as one side of the shunt.
IS- passive Load-side terminal of the integrated 2-mΩ shunt resistor. Connect to load.
IS- passive Load-side terminal of the integrated 2-mΩ shunt resistor. Connect to load.
SH- output Kelvin sense output from the load-side of the internal shunt resistor. Connect to IN- directly if no filtering is needed.
IN- input Amplifier differential input from the load side of the shunt resistor. Common-mode range -4 V to +80 V.
GND power_in Device ground reference.
DNC1 unconnected Do Not Connect. Leave floating; do not tie to any potential.
NC unconnected No connect.
VS power_in Power supply input, 2.7 V to 5.5 V. Draws up to 2.4 mA quiescent current.
REF2 input Reference voltage 2 input, 0 V to VS. Sets the output reference along with REF1 for bidirectional current sensing.
REF1 input Reference voltage 1 input, 0 V to VS. Sets the output reference along with REF2 for bidirectional current sensing.
NC unconnected No connect.
OUT output Analog output voltage proportional to sensed current times the gain (100/200/400 mV/A depending on A1/A2/A3 variant).
DNC2 unconnected Do Not Connect. Leave floating; do not tie to any potential.
NC passive Reserved; connect this pin to GND.
IN+ input Amplifier differential input from the supply side of the shunt resistor. Common-mode range -4 V to +80 V.
SH+ output Kelvin sense output from the supply-side of the internal shunt resistor. Connect to IN+ directly if no filtering is needed.
IS+ passive Supply-side terminal of the integrated 2-mΩ shunt resistor. Connect to supply. Pins 18, 19, and 20 are internally tied together as one side of the shunt.
IS+ passive Supply-side terminal of the integrated 2-mΩ shunt resistor. Connect to supply.
IS+ passive Supply-side terminal of the integrated 2-mΩ shunt resistor. Connect to supply.
