CD74HC4066

Texas Instruments · Quad bilateral analog switch · SOIC-14

Four independent bilateral (analog) switches in a SOIC-14, the CMOS-logic sibling of the classic CD4066. Each switch is a transmission gate that passes a signal in either direction when its control pin is high and blocks it when low, with a low on-resistance and no fixed input/output distinction. Because it passes analog as well as digital signals, it routes audio, sensor, and reference voltages, builds simple multiplexers and sample-and-hold front ends, and gates control signals. Keep signals within the supply rails. Runs 2-6 V. This page ships the KiCad CD4066 symbol, which is pin-identical.

Pinout

Pin Name Type Function
1 1Y bidirectional Switch 1 analog I/O terminal (Y side). Bidirectional analog signal path connected internally to 1Z when 1E is high. Handles analog voltages between GND and Vcc.
2 1Z bidirectional Switch 1 analog I/O terminal (Z side). Bidirectional analog signal path connected internally to 1Y when 1E is high.
3 2Z bidirectional Switch 2 analog I/O terminal (Z side). Bidirectional analog signal path connected internally to 2Y when 2E is high.
4 2Y bidirectional Switch 2 analog I/O terminal (Y side). Bidirectional analog signal path connected internally to 2Z when 2E is high.
5 2E input Switch 2 enable/control input. High level (>= VIH) closes the switch between 2Y and 2Z; low level opens it. CMOS logic input referenced to VCC/GND.
6 3E input Switch 3 enable/control input. High level (>= VIH) closes the switch between 3Y and 3Z; low level opens it. CMOS logic input referenced to VCC/GND.
7 GND power_in Ground reference (0 V). Return current path for the device supply and lower bound of the recommended analog signal range.
8 3Y bidirectional Switch 3 analog I/O terminal (Y side). Bidirectional analog signal path connected internally to 3Z when 3E is high.
9 3Z bidirectional Switch 3 analog I/O terminal (Z side). Bidirectional analog signal path connected internally to 3Y when 3E is high.
10 4Z bidirectional Switch 4 analog I/O terminal (Z side). Bidirectional analog signal path connected internally to 4Y when 4E is high.
11 4Y bidirectional Switch 4 analog I/O terminal (Y side). Bidirectional analog signal path connected internally to 4Z when 4E is high.
12 4E input Switch 4 enable/control input. High level (>= VIH) closes the switch between 4Y and 4Z; low level opens it. CMOS logic input referenced to VCC/GND.
13 1E input Switch 1 enable/control input. High level (>= VIH) closes the switch between 1Y and 1Z; low level opens it. CMOS logic input referenced to VCC/GND.
14 VCC power_in Positive supply. 2 V to 10 V for HC types; 4.5 V to 5.5 V for HCT type. Sets the upper bound for analog signal swing and the CMOS logic-input thresholds on the E pins.
