500 mW surface-mount silicon planar Zener diode with a nominal 5.1 V breakdown, in a SOD-123 package. The Zener voltage is 4.8-5.4 V at a 5 mA test current, and the cathode band marks polarity. Used for voltage clamping, simple shunt references, and rail protection. Reverse-biased above Vz it conducts and holds the voltage; forward drop is 0.9 V.
