Advanced Monolithic Systems · 1 A LDO regulator (fixed 5 V) · SOT-223
The 5 V version of the AMS1117, a 1 A low-dropout linear regulator in the SOT-223 tab package. It regulates a higher unregulated input down to a fixed 5 V with 1.5% reference tolerance, dropping about 1.3 V at 0.8 A, so a 7-12 V input gives a clean 5 V rail for logic, USB, and sensors. Internal current limiting and thermal shutdown protect it, and a 10 uF output capacitor keeps it stable. The tab (pin 2) is the output and the thermal path. Use the AMS1117-3.3 for 3.3 V rails.
