1N4007

Diodes Incorporated · General-purpose rectifier · DO-41

The 1N4007 is the highest-voltage member of the 1N400x rectifier family, a 1 A silicon rectifier in the axial DO-41 package that shows up in nearly every linear power supply. It blocks up to 1000 V reverse, drops about 1.1 V forward at 1 A, and survives a 30 A surge, so it handles mains rectification, flyback clamping, and reverse-polarity protection. The banded end is the cathode (pin 1). Being a standard-recovery diode, it is meant for 50/60 Hz line rectification, not high-frequency switching.

Pinout

Pin Name Type Function
1 K passive Cathode terminal, identified by the painted band on the DO-41 body. Blocks reverse current up to VRRM = 1000V (1N4007 variant). Typical reverse leakage 5.0µA at TA=+25°C, rising to 50µA at TA=+100°C.
2 A passive Anode terminal. Forward current flows from anode to cathode; connect to the higher-potential side of the rectification path. Rated for 1.0A average forward current (IO) and 30A non-repetitive peak forward surge current (IFSM, 8.3ms half sine).
