Welcome loops at "link your agents" after Claude Code links; then a blank view (public X report)

First time setup could use some work. Dropped me in an infinite loop at the "link your agents" phase (linked Claude Code successfully, but Welcome never "checked it off"). Ended up landing at this blank view. Hate working with VS Code (hardware isn't code!), no idea what to do.

What to look at:

  1. Welcome "link your agents" step never completes after Claude Code links successfully, so first-time setup loops.
  2. A blank view after leaving the loop (his screenshot is attached to the post).
  3. No obvious next step for a hardware engineer who doesn't know VS Code. The first screen should say what to do (open a project, ask the AI to build a board), not drop him into an editor.

He is on a Mac (John, 2026-10-19). The Mac app sends no setup steps yet (adom/hydrogen-macos#5), so the fleet will not show where it stalled. That is one more reason to add setup telemetry.
